Hello everyone,

It's me again Elaine back in January I tried to find new homes for my 4 little guys!!!!I got someone here in the forum that was going to have all 4 off them for herself....but at the end she changed her mind (right when I got all my powers, got my babies in the car and I was driving them to her with my family when she said she only wanted the Quakers; because I was feeling so sad about re-homing them I was happy she called giving a resaon not to re-home them at that time).
But now here I'm again...The situation is that we have 4 birds 2 love-birds and 2 quakers....we got one quaker/ add a second one and them got 4 lovies but 2 got a virus and died 2 years ago in NYC....We moved to NC about 1 year and 10 months ago and we were living in a house....the birds got lots of light....lots of attention....lots of time out of their cages.....2 of those time outs....they got in a fight I would say and one of my love bird got my green quaker on the leg....he was fine...just a little breeding.....I was so scared and decided to keep them in their cages.....but few days later I thought it was not okay and I feelt bad for my little one and let them out again....they were okay for few months but again the other love bird got my blue quaker on her feet back in December....and this time was not okay, I had to go to the vet...she used collar and I paid a fortune in the Credit card.....Not to mention that now I have a 2 years old boy, that sleep a lot during the day (at least tries).......I don't feel secure to let my birds out anymore because I don't have money to bring them to the vet, neither any credit card for emergency.....so I have to be responsible and let them in their cages.....whenever I tried to separate the cages to let them out a little....both parties love-birds and quakers keep screeming like there is no tomorrow....even more because they can here each other no matter where I put them (it is an apt)....and the neighbors have being asking a lot about the birds....saying they here them screaming a lot.....so I here wish things were diff. I love my birds and want to keep them. But my circunstances don't help, I wish to have a house with a large room just for my birds.....plenty of toys.....money for the vet but I don't......sorry guys long story.....and believe me it is not easy for me.....but I have to do what is best for my little ones....I want them have a long happy life....My 2 Love birds are from end of 2005, so almost 3 years old...very healthy I will post pictures of them too....My Green quaker I believe he is around 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 years old (DNA Male), and my Blue Quaker is 3 years old (she was born in July of 2005) (DNA Female)....Both pairs have being caged together always...so I will not consider separating them....the same with the love birds them being together since I got them. The love I'm asking for a $100 dollars adoption fee for both...and for my 2 Quakers I'm asking for $400 for both (I have their DNA certificate too included each I paid $75 for each in NYC).
I would like to keep it local, that way I could see them sometimes if possible.....please help....I'm not in a rash but I need to face that they need to have a forever home where they can be happy...and be able to play out of their cage....thanks
Elaine

Elaine -- have you tried listing on Petfinder? They have a classified section for people needing to rehome their pets.

I'm so sorry that you are faced with having to rehome your lovies and your Quakers. Best of luck and please let us know how you make out!

There is a section at top thats says local and classifieds. Go there and should be a drop down that says place free ad. Just do not answer any replies you might get about shipping..they are scams. I got a pair form this site and have even re-homes stray cats we have had.

I am sorry but I do not belive we have many active members in your area. If I was closer i would take them but sadly a walk to NC from GA would be to much for me.lol.

If you need a good home for them, why ask such a hefty price?

You can get hand fed baby lovies from a breeder for $65 or less in my area.

Just my 2 cents. If you need a good home, maybe make the price more reasonable. Sometimes then you have more people interested and you can pick which home is the best for them.

What disease did the other birds have that died?

I will lower the price if needed....and I myself paid $100 plus tax per each one I got....so I spend over $200 on my pair....but sure I would lower the price for my pair.....I'm not sure, but my vet said it was Virus......and it was 2 years ago....so I don't have any concerns about that anymore....maybe they were born with problems too...we never know for sure.....thank

Prices for various parrots will vary in different locations around the globe. Prices will also vary by mutation. Gotta compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges........ You're in Massachusetts. These birds are in North Carolina.

Elaine,
The problem right now is the economy and the fact that there are many, many pets being displaced by home foreclosures. It doesn't surprise me that you've had no takers. I read Craig's List and there are a lot of people selling their pets just so they have money for other things. It's a very sad and distressing situation. I just adopted a Mexican Red Headed Amazon who is turning out to be a real problem but his former owner can't take him back. If I place him with someone else, the next person might not be quite as understanding as I'm trying to be, considering the situation.

All you can do is keep looking and hope you find the right forever home!
