I live in Hamilton Ontario Canada.

I have two lovebirds, both male. One is a Peachface one is a Fischer.

I have had them for about a year now, and the conclusion I have reluctantly come to is that I cannot give them the attention that they need.

Because I have three cats, and I have a crazy work schedule, I cannot take the time I need to try and tame them. When I got them they were not tame, so a lot of work needs to be done. I feel horrible that it has come to this, but it is true.

If there is anyone close that is interested, let me know. They have a nice cage and toys, and we have a van to deliver if needed. We'll drive far to make sure they get a good home.

Where is Hamiliton in Ontario I am close to Detroit in Michigan and am not sure how close you are to me. Iam looking for a male fischer are you willing to separate them? I am also not sure of The rules of bringing them over the bridge to the States. Let me know if I can help. I am a very small breeder and hate to take over too many birds. I treatmy birds like royaltybut then again theyexpect it.
LOL

Thanks

Last rule I knew regarding birds going to/from Canada is that you are allowed to bring 2 across the border but they have to be examined by a vet at entrance point. I believe the 2 are supposed to be pets but I'm not 100% sure.

I am sorry I forgot to tell you.I only have love birds one of each type of pair. Except Fisher's I have a female and not a male. I do not mind them not being tame. I have had many birds in my lifetime mostly Teils, Keets, Lovies and I find that having many birds of different types is more difficult. I am getting three new cages this week just to keep them separated after they breed. I am not fond of people who over breed their birds. I recently bought a Fischer' mother who had been over breed just to assure she has a happy retirement. I gave her to my sister for a house warming. Even though she didn't want to interact with my other birds I didn't force it. I was at my sister's this past weekend and Mama Bird, she has ow been named Clickitey, is a new bird. she comes out of the corner to interact with the family even though there are many members and there were many children playing. I wish I had a big enough area for a bird rescue. I would scoop them all up. Anyway I thought you might want to know a little more about me before considering this. Thanks

You sound like just the person I'm looking for. I would prefer not to seperate them. They have their own cage and some toys and food. Hamilton is below Toronto, at the tip of Lake Ontario. From Detroit about 300 km. If you are willing to make the drive, and get the vet check up, I think they're a perfect match. Cage is a large parrot cage -- I don't think it will fit in to a smaller car, but an SUV or mini van should do. Kiwi bites if you stick your hand too close in the cage -- just a tiny bit of cage aggression, but Peaches was hand fed and doesn't bite, but is also shy. They are in perfect health, and have never had a problem that way, but I have also never taken them to the vet. I am assuming they are both male because they hump things and no eggs have appeared. I'm not an expert. But other than the cost of driving, crossing the border and getting a vet check up (if it's needed) they are completely free to you. If it makes it easier, we can set up a meeting place in London Ontario, which is quite a bit closer -- half way almost I think.

Hey I just checked the rules about bringing birds across the border They changed the rules after the mad cow epedemic. Plus the avain flu problem. No birds are allowed even pets caged. They are very strict it says,They only allow dogs and cats and sometimes not them. I should have checked first. This change was started in 2005. Sorry I was hoping to help you outand get a mate for Tweety she is hormonal.

Nope, still looking for an experienced bird person to take them under their wing.... They are still free, but if we deliver we might have to ask for some gas money.... I live in Hamilton Ontario. Is anyone close?
