Due to family issues and going to nursing school, I have to sell my lovies. I posted 2 ads on online sites, but was wondering if anyone knew of a place that I could list them that is reputable? I want them to go to a good home, but I can't just give them away. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Melissa

You should post your location since we have members from all over the world.

Good luck in you search for a new home for your lovies.

I am located in Massachusetts, near the Vermont/New Hampshire border.

I'm in North Carolina, or else I would take them. Can you give us any information about your lovies? Are they tame? How old? Male/female? That way if we hear of anyone we could pass along the message!

www.petfinder.com has a section to place birds for adoption. It is on the top area and is free.

They are about 6 months old. I'm not sure of the sexes, and they are tame to a point. I can pick them up (their wings are clipped) and hold them. When I let them go they will stay on me, but they don't come to me on their own. They are really cute and playful, they do silly things, one has learned on its own how to turn on a musical toy and they are very active.

Hey I don't think I'm too far from you.....we've gone up that way quite a bit, have you ever heard of the town of Gill? I think that may be right about where you are located, correct? I am maybe just over an hour or so away from you in western mass. near the vermont/NY border.
I am really at my limit here with birds though, but I will spread the word and see if I can find anyone with a good home who is interested.

The town is called Montague and there are "villages" in it. Gill is one of them, I live in another of the villages called Turners Falls....

My son is giving me a really hard time about selling the birds, I told him that if he helps me (he has his own gecko to take care of too) then we would be able to keep them. I really don't want to get rid of them, so hopefully this will work out....

Yeah, we went to Gill a couple of times......I remember eating at this cute little roadside place I think it was something with a wagonwheel? on the main road running alongside the river......the food was good there!
I hope that you are able to keep them, also if you are interested, there is a bird expo thing coming up in this area of Mass. In fact I think you are probably closer to where it will be than I am. I am going to go be going to this and it's not until spring........

I am in Massauchusetts, but just got Eddie a friend.

I just had to rehome an Eclectus and had luck on Craiglist. I was vague in the ad, and did not put "bird, parrot" on any keywords in there, so that only a person who knew what they were talking about knew what I had.

Luckily a girl who is a member on the Eclectus forum called about him and asked "Is this Dewie?" So I lucked out that this woman knew about all his plight.

Good luck.

PS - I have no idea where Gill is.... I live on the Northshore.

Hi: My name is Helen and I live in Arlington, Massachusetts. I would be willing to give your two birds a fabulous home with myself and my two lovies. I have one guaranteed female (her spouse died) and one of her babies which I do not know the gender of. I would even be willing to take them on a "temporary" basis until your life settles down or whatever. My birds are very spoiled....etc.\
Let me know what you think. Helen :)

Glad you volunteered Helen.

I thought of you but have been missing you on here. Only a few of us Massachusetts girls here.... we have to stick together!

Sorry it took me so long to reply! The holidays are crazy around here.
Although my husband isn't too happy about it (the chirping gets to him when he's watching football) my son and I have decided to keep Skittles and Zoey. He is doing alot of the training with them, sitting patiently on the floor with millett and hand feeding them. They will probably get more attached to him than to me, but I figured that it may be that much easier for me later! I sit nearby doing homework and talk to them while he's doing it. I do talk to them alot, and they don't get as agitated when I put my hand in their cage to change their food and water. I think they might even realize that I am helping them out! The watch my hands very closely, but Zoey doesn't puff up anymore when I go to feed them. I think it may take me alot longer then it should to get them trained because of my busy schedule. I was mostly worried about them getting enough attention, but now that my son is helping out, I'm not so worried. Thanks for all your suggestions and offers to care for them!

I'm so very glad that things are working out so that you can keep Skittles and Zoey! Sometimes a little bit of help is what it takes! :)

Glad things are working out. Helen and I were wondering what happened. I saw them on kijii or hoobly or something and we didn't know what happened. If you change your mind, Helen was nice enough to offer to take them.

Best of Luck!

i'm so glad it's gonna work out too. yeah, the chirping can get out of hand. there are times when I can't nap cuz my fids are "talking" back and forth, but you know, i knew that going in and i love them just the same. keep us posted on how they're doing.

A chirpy bird is a healthy bird! I would give anything for Eddie to be a little noisier today while I worry about my little Beaner!

Im glad it all worked out too..

you said you were studying.. and also training your birds..

I find reading your text books out to the birds helps not only you but the birds as well. they get used to your voice and become calm.. and you are still learning as well.

It's what I did in the beginning :)
