Hi everyone,
I haven't given up on trying to find a Pied pair of
Lovebirds.
I've contacted one breeder with beautiful birds, but I'm
looking for a pair near breeding age.

I want to stay in Michigan as far as traveling.

How much does it cost to ship and how safe is it really?

Thanks everyone! :grouphug1

Renee,
It's been about 6 months since I last shipped birds and the cost was right at $100.00 with Continental Airlines. Continental does a great job with their live shipments so they are the only ones I will use.

If you are looking to produce Pied offspring, you really only need one bird that is Pied. Pied is co-dominant and acts in a manner similar to violet. I'm not sure that a pair of Pieds will do any better than one of each.

I do not ship birds, but have had some shipped by Delta, and it runs about the same thing as Linda was saying about Continental Airlines. I have heard wonderful stories of Continental, and we will be having some birds ship by that airlines next month. I am always a nervous wreak when I know "MY" birds are being shipped... >o but so far I haven't had any problems on the receiving side.

And I agree with Linda, you only need one pied to get pied babies....and I will add, even if you have two pieds, it doesn't mean they will throw heavy pied birds... Sometimes just haveing one lightly pied bird will throw heavy pied babies. :D
