Hi all-great community you have here!

I have 2 female lovebirds free to a good home. I adopted them from a family a year ago who could not care for them any more. I am starting school again in the fall and cannot give them the time they deserve.

I believe they are sisters, about 5 years old. They were allowed free flight by the previous owners and are semi-tame. I have been working on step up-they do pretty good now with a perch and even my hand at times, on the way to the cages, but they are not real comfortable staying on hands for any time. They also will ride on my shoulder if given time to make their decision and do well there while I walk around the house. All in all a great improvement since I got them-the kids called them devil birds.

Included are their 2 cages and supplies-they get along well in neutral areas with their own spaces to go back to. One was missing the tip of a toe when I got it but it was healed over and seems to cause no problems. They have never been to the vet that I know of but seem in perfect health.

I live in Madison, WI but go to Milwaukee occaisonally so could work out delivery there if needed. No shipping.

Thanks,

J. R.

"when I really wanted to adopt but couldn't find any for adoption... now they are all over the place!"

Always seems to be the way it goes unfortunately.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have already checked out their website and we have Fine Feathered Friends here in Madison, which seems like a good organization also, and was going to be my next step if I cannot find anyone myself.

How far are you from Whitewater? I'm waaaaay down south, so I have no clue as to what is close to what up there. I might have a family that can help you out.

Cool,

If JR can let me know they still have the birds, then I can contact my friend, and see if they can work something out. :)

Good afternoon all. I am the friend from Whitewater, who adopted the two little lovies, They are a riot :lol . We named them Tabby and Sammi. They are getting along real well and adjusting quickly. Tabby, which seems to be more social than her sister, is flying all over the house and becoming quite the the little jokester. She doesn't care to be touched to much, which we respect, but will fly a few inches from your face and laugh about it. They are mimicking very well. They both say step up, when I say it, or when they are leaving thier cages. And will make the knock knock sound on the wall or cage when I say whos there. We are very excited to see how intellegent they are and how well they are adjusting to the new surroundings.

JR, thank you so much for the opportunity to add new members to our ever growing family. :)

Hi,

I'm glad you dropped in to let us all know how everything is going. It is always wonderful when someone here, or someone one of us knows can help re-home a bird/birds. It's also a comfort to those who are looking for new homes for their beloved pets to know that they are going to good, educated homes. I hope you will stick around, read a bit, and if you do, I'm sure you will see what a wonderful family we have here, and be just as addicted as we all are :D

Bless you for taking these little ones in. I know everyone involved feels blessed also.

Thank you all for the wonderful welcome. This is a great site you have :) . I am learning quick that one does not own birds, the birds own you  . They are becoming quite spoiled. It used to be after work, I would go to the store for a treat for the kids, now I find my self at the pet store for birdie goodies  . We are already talking about getting a few more lovies :omg: , but I think we will take it slow as to make sure we have enough time, since we do have 3 kids, (4 kids if you count "Cooper" our dog  ) and full time jobs. But I am sure all will work out perfectly like these two have.

Again, thanks for the warm welcome and I look forward to reading all the informative and interested posts here.
