Hi Ya'll..... I know this is a forum for birds and I also know how supportive ya'll can be.
So I am going to ask for some thoughts and prayers for the most important lovie in my life....my son.
He has had bad fevers since friday due to a Sinus Infection. This morning his fever shot up to 103 so we went straight to the ER. After waiting 3 looooong hours they took him in and said he was severly dehydrated (which I knew) so they admited him.
In these last few days I have tried to give food, water, perdialite and he just would not take ANYTHING. He has lost 2lbs in 5 days.
I know how much support ya'll give and it's really comforting. Anthony is my only child and I am across the country so I do not have any family here with me. I need all the support I can get.

Jessie,
Thoughts and prayers headed your way from Florida. Wish I lived closer. Two of my daughters live in my area but the rest of my family is scattered all over the country. It's hard with family far away.
Please let us know how your son is doing! While we may be primarily a lovebird board, all family/flock members belong here, too.

Awww, all the best wishes to you and him.....remember....kids are very resiliant and strong. I've had a fever higher as an adult and also was sick in hospital for two weeks as a child where I lost way more weight than that! and I made it through! Try to stay positive and keep the faith....he's where he can treated and well taken care of!

Hi Jessie, hugs and good thoughts going your way. I know how you feel. My kids always spiked fevers, so they were scary for me. Being away from family is hard when you have little ones :( How old is your son?

I know how it is to worry about the kiddies. When my now-4-year old was 18 months old, she was very listless one day. I chalked it up to her teeth coming in.....and she woke us up at 12AM one night screaming her head off like someone was hurting her. She too spiked a fever of 104.9 degrees and we rushed to the emergency room to find it was a raging case of bad strep. She didn't talk much at the time, so understanding her was hard and explaining what was wrong with her and how the doctors were going to fix her was hard as well.
She got a shot and was herself in about 36 hours time. I know it is hard, but your son is in good hands. I know that the flu going around right now is quite nasty, and it's harder on the little ones than it is on us! I hope he gets better soon, and you need to take it easy yourself. It's hard to not worry, but maybe tomorrow when you get some rest you can stop at a store and buy him a little something to cheer both you and your little guy up. My kids love to color when they are sick....or painting with some inexpensive paints are fun too. It takes your mind and their mind off of anything going on that is different.
My thoughts are with you. I have family all over as well and it is not easy when something like this arises. Hugs!

More hugs & healing thoughts from here. :grouphug: I know we all say our fids are family--'cause they are--and I say all my children have feathers--'cause they do--but I don't kid myself for a minute that a sick bird & a sick child are the same thing! I remember the last night my Bo (lovie) was home, I sat up all night holding him while he had 7 major seizures in 5 hours. I was terribly distressed but even at the time I thought, "What would this be like if it was my child who was in this much trouble!" I can't even imagine it. And I'm glad you felt free to come here to ask for support! We all have our "wings" wrapped around you. You, your children with hair, and your children with feathers are all a part of this flock!

How is your son doing lulu? I hope all is well and he is recovered and healthy! I don't have any children of my own (although I believe dogs and gus counts! lol) but I can definitely understand how scary illness can be when it's a loved one.
Sending all the best your way.

Oh- how did I miss this?
I'm so sorry he wasn't feeling well! I just got over a bad sinus infection myself, so I can sure empathize. :(
How is Anthony today?
Hugs and kisses from Oregon!

Hi ya'll! He ended up being in the hospital for 3 days. He is doing much better, although this morning he woke up with a runny nose and a fever again. I think it's because of the weather. It gets down to 23 degrees one day then it's up at 70 degrees the next day. Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. When he was in the hospital I took my computer with me, and when he would fall asleep I would come to this forumn and just read and post. Thanks ya'll

Aww, great news! I knew he'd bounce back! Kids are like that and they also seem to handle stuff like this better than we adults do too! Glad he is doing well!
