Is there anyone on this board who breeds these? I have a question about the pair that I have and the babies of them. The female has red on her lower abdomen and upper legs and has some orange coloring speckled about her abdomen, her face and wings are as brilliant as the makes, too. Well, two of their babies have a lot of red and more red pins coming in on the abdomen and I was wondering about her possibly being a red bellied?

I read that they can get more red for up to three years. She is just about a year and a half. She is striking and it looks as if the babies will be as well. :)

Thanks to anyone who knows about these birds or knows of any breeders that I may bother to ask seom quesstions.

There are many types of parakeets that are classified as Australian Grass Keets. They include Bourkes, SC Parakeets, Red Rump Parakeets, just to name a few. Photos would be helpful.

I've bred Bourkes and SC Parakeets so I may be able to help, not sure.

Why does that not surprise me?
Me thinks the list of birds you don't know about is shorter than the list of birds you do know intimately :)

There is a red belly mutation in SC Parakeets and that might be what you have. I'd love to see some photos if they will cooperate.........

One thing I can tell you is that I've not exhausted everything I know or have learned yet.
