Hi All,
my name is peppero1, well peppero is actually my lovebird's name. I currently live is Seoul South Korea, and got peppero at a rather delapitated pet store in an unsavory part of town. At first I thought, "can I give a bird a good home?" and then when I saw where he came from I realized I might be rescuing him from something worse.
Anyway, I have had him for about 10 months and it's been a positive experience, though I am returning to Canada next month and the folks at Inspections Canada have been telling me I can and then I can't bring him back, (it's called the run-around) so I am going to make one more call there next week to see if I can bring him back with me. If not, my friend will take care of him until I return.
I am also interested in possibly getting a larger bird, an Eclectus parrot. So if anyone knows of a similar message board for these birds I would love to find out more about them.
Other than the above, I just want to say that this message board has been a great source of information -- learning from other's experience is invaluable in discovering how to best parent a pet.

Hey,

We always love to hear that this board has had positive influence. I so hope that everything works out so that you can take Peppero with you to Canada. I don't know much about crossing borders with pets, but maybe Shy or Kimmie can help you somehow, or know where you can get more information, as they are both in Canada.

Keep in touch, and let us know how it's going.

Hi,

I wish you good luck with Cnada Customs i know they can be a pain. When we moved from Germany we couldn't bring our cockatiel back with us but our friends were able to bring their 8 budgies back with them so I know it's not impossible.
Make sure you have vet papers to certify it's health as well. This may help in bringing Peperro back home with you. If you need anything, let me know.

Good luck from Nova Scotia,

it's strange but I asked the inspections Canada people about vet papers and they didn't seem to need them,,, I think they just go by the list of acceptable counties to import and then check the quarantine location.
I will be calling them next week to get the final word. Let's hope the ban has been lifted as I know I will really miss Peppero while I am in Canada, and I will definately have the time to spend with him that he wants/needs.
