Today's visit from the next door neighbor's parrotlet Bob was a success!! Rudy and Bob seem to absolutely love each other! Love at first sight! It's so crazy how certain birds just seem to hit it off!

Yup.....that's Bob....the parrotlet that almost got away! He's really a very sweet natured little parrotlet, very shy and not aggressive at all. Rudy was clickey dancing almost the whole time....that's why his foot was up in the pics, to itch his face! They were out together for a few hours and never showed any signs of aggression towards each other, and that beak to beak thing, like they were feeding each other.....that was the only time it happened and it just happened to be when I had the camera going!

I love the cute little sounds and chirps that Bob the parrotlet makes. My neighbors have always been telling me that Bob is lonliest bird in the world! He lost his mate before they got him and he isn't very fond of people, although he didn't seem very scared of me and he doesn't even know me! It's really nice that we have these neighbors....they always take Ivy for me when we go away and I don't know what I'd do without them to take her because she's such a scared bird and gets car sick and I need to leave her somewhere closeby. They took Pip this time too, as I didn't want to separate Pip and Ivy. They have a mollucan cockatoo, a senegal and Bob and Bob has no birdie friend :( It's nice we know our birds are healthy and that Bob can have a friend now, even if it's only once in a while, maybe once a week, or couple weeks we're hoping to let them get together. I still can't believe that they hit it off SO well! Seeing as they like each other so much, I'm thinking of the possibility of them eventually living together in the same home....either Rudy there, or Bob here.....I have to consider the fact that these birds would be happier with a birdie friend. Rudy seems like a happy little guy, but to see him so happy with Bob.....I think I'd be ok with him being right next door, or.....we're doing over the bird room this summer and will have more room too, but however this ends up working out is fine with me.....my neighbors are wonderful people and a good, loving home to their animals, and I am just very grateful to have them! I think it's so nice that we can bring our birds together for some time together so they can have that birdie companionship, plus it's just adorable to watch!

i agree, that is so nice that you have neighbors you can do that with. and it's awesome that bob and rudy are buddies. it's so cute. i want to get jada a friend, but not sure how she'll react. parrotlets are so expensive! they're well over a hundred dollars for one bird. i don't want to spend that much plus a new cage and then have them hate each other. i was thinking of a parakeet cuz they're similar in size, but still, i don't know if that parakeet (being a different species) and her will get along. oh well. i do agree that it's good when they have a buddy. poor joey always gets kicked out of birdie games and preening sessions. i want to get him a friend too, but he's too bonded to me so not sure how that will work out. i can see him being nice to another lovebird, but not really caring unless he can get a preen out of it. haha. what a user. and even if you rehome rudy to your neighbors, at least you know where he's going and you can see him :)

Rudy is a sweet little guy! I will always put my bird's happiness before mine though. My others have a birdie buddy, and sometimes it just makes me sad to see Rudy pushed away by my other birds when he tries to be friends with them. Then there's poor little Bob who's alone and lost his mate.
I would never consider re-homing a bird.....I love my birds and I just want the best for them, BUT being right next door and with people who are so caring and just a great home.....I'd have to consider this, and at least think about it. I know that they weren't interested in getting another bird for Bob...I know money is kinda tight right now for them because the wife had been sick for a while, but she's fine now and we'll just see how things go. If we end up both keeping our birds, that's fine too....we'll just plan regular visits for the two! No matter what happens, it's just a happy time for Rudy and Bob!
