View Full Version : Is anybody looking for a sweet male pied adult lovie?
Hi
My lovie, Razzle, is 22 months old, dna'd boy, gorgeous green and yellow pied peachface, tame and friendly, but in need of a birdie friend to bond with . Im hoping to find a home for him, where he can be happy and complete, with another lovebird. He is tame, steps up great, and seems to enjoy attention, but is definitely more of a bird's bird. I live in NH, so if anyone nearby is interested in having Razzle join their flock, please email me for more details. He is very handsome, and a really nice bird.

I sent you an email- I am new to this forum, so hopefully you got it, as I am still trying to figure out how things work around here. Also, since I sent the email, I read the other thread concerning Razzle. He is soooo beautiful by the way! Anyway, I read about your concerns, and about what Razzle's personality is like. Now that I have, I must say he has the exact same personality as my Hunny: very friendly but not affectionate. Anyway, I also wanted to mention that my bird is only 5 months old, and was wondering if you (or anyone reading this) would think that would be a problem (the difference in age). As I mentioned in my email, I am also from NH. I was planning on finding Hunny a friend within the next few months, so he could have someone to socialize with. I have two cockatiels, whom I housed separately for the first year, then once I was sure they got along, I bought them a huge cage and put them together, and now they are in heaven! My plans were to do the same with Hunny. Find him a friend, and if they seemed to get along, I would put them together, but at the same time, be prepared to have to keep them apart.
Hope to hear from you (and Razzle)!
HI Christina,
Hunny is adorable! And only five months old...so cute. I wonder if her face will get brighter when she matures? ( female, right?). I sent you an email.....let me know when you get it. It would be wonderful if things could work out for these two to become friends! ;)

Hi Judi!
(I sent you another email.) I am not sure on the sex of Hunny as of yet, but I am assuming that it would not be a problem if they turn out to be both males. I have two male cockatiels that are simply the best of friends. Actually, I would be more worried about having two females, especially during mating season.
And yes, he or she will be getting brighter soon. I can already see the lovely cantalope coloring starting to come through on the forehead! I hope things work out also. I took my time in letting my tiels get to know each other, so I am thinking that these two might be able to have a similar situation. And it is probably a plus that Hunny is not attached to me either; he/she is friendly, but independant, so I wouldn't be worried about any jealous feelings there. :)
Sounds great Christina...I emailed you back. Anxious to hear from you again!

Christine please remember you will still have to keep any new bird apart from your current bird 60-90 days for quarintine. That means seprate cage in seprate room. there is also no guarrante they will like each other. But I think it is nice your near and might be able to help.

Christina,
I do hope everything works out. If Hunny is a female, she is younger than Razzle, and that would work fine. An older hen will not accept an older male sometimes, but she is younger so if they click, that is a plus.
I am so glad you guys are keeping us all updated here as well as emailing each other. Lord knows we can all use some good news right now with all the Katrina aftermath, and if all works out, that would be great news :)
Awww...thanks Janie ! Ive got my fingers crossed too !

Oh, most definitely. In fact, my lovebird Hunny is still in quarintine from my two cockatiels. (She has an appointment this Friday with the vet and will be tested for diseases.) My tiels have their own room, complete with a very nice playgym (they are VERY spoiled, lol), but for now, Hunny and I are roomies. And I still have an additional room for another quarintined bird, if necessary. Besides, I would want a new bird to have the chance to get used to his new home first before getting to know another bird. I did this with my cockatiels, and I found that, in the end, I ended up with two birds that have remained hand tame, even while bonding with each other.
It is funny, but the more I read about Razzle, the more he seems like one of my tiels. His name is Bubbles and he is very friendly; in fact, knock on wood, but in the three years I have had him, he has never bit me once. However, I have also never been able to get him to sit on my shoulder for more than two seconds. He is simply content to play with my other tiel; he will step up on your finger, but is definitely not a people bird. It is as if he is used to people (he was handfed), but doesn't want to be friends with them. So I understand how Judi feels, because I couldn't imagine him not having his pal- my other tiel, Max. He would be so lonely.
I am keeping my fingers crossed also! Since I have yet to find out if my love bird is a male or female, it is good that Razzle is a boy, which is what caught my eye in the thread title. Hopefully things work out!
