hi, my name is scott i live in plymouth with my wife and three kids and have just started in bird keeping.
We have tango a cockateil of about 12 months who is as much a family member as any of us.she is not hand tame but is not nasty or too timid.
today we bought an 8 week peach faced lovebird who we named mo,he or she has been bought to see if we can tame him or her if we fail we will get a mate for mo and look into a hand reared bird but really would prefer to bond with mo ourselves.
Hopefully our pockets will allow us to keep more of these lovelly birds, anyway thats us so hello.

Hi Scott and welcome! Glad you found the forum, it's great! I'd like to suggest that you check out the thread, "Your Attention Please" when you have a chance. It's full of the best lovebird information and advice. Good luck with Mo.....at just 8 weeks, I'm sure you'll have a cuddle bunny before you know it. Since he/she is young, be sure that he's eating and drinking well. Lots of patience and interaction with him should make him a member of the family in very little time. Good luck! :)

Welcome to the board. I am Steph. I am owned by 2 lovies and various other pets. Just remember some birds take awhile to be cuddly and some never are 100%. This board is wonderful for information and answering questions. SO feel free to ask if you have questions. By hand reared do you mean hand feeding? That is not needed to have a sweet baby. Many here have parent feed sweet birds. Myself included. You just need to be sure you take the sweeties out often to be cuddled.

Welcome to the Community Scott,
Your gonna just love it here, as this is a wonderful group of people that are full of information. I'm glad you found your way over here, and hope you enjoy yourself.
Mo being so young, you should have no problems with bonding with your baby....In no time you should have him/her eating out of your palm. Peachface lovies are awsome :D .

Hi Scott....welcome from Missouri.....I have cockatiels, budgies, lovebirds and zebra finches.......it was recommended to me recently that cherrios are not healthy for birds due to the iron content (I'm surprised it is in the information area, I looked for it just now but could not find it).....I think lots of people feed them to their birds, but I have stopped.....there is supposed to be a good substitute for cherrios at the health food stores, but I've not ventured out to find it yet. You can also make birdie bread in the "recipe section" that they will like. You can go the the "photo gallery" and there is a post at the top that tells how to do pictures. You will find that tiels are very sweet and lovebirds are characters. I look forward to visiting with you.

Welcome to our flock! :)
I'm Perran and I am trained by a 10 month old peachfaced named Trixie Bunny. We live in Philadelphia along with my lovely wife Karen, 2 cats (Karma and Cassie) and a dog named Nitro.
I grew up as a teenager in Chattanooga and was born in Rome and spent all my summers in Athens GA.. Do me a favor? Next time you drink sweet tea or eat a busicuit, think about me. These danged Yankees have no idea what civilized food and drink is.
