I know I've been away for far to long. Just not been feeling well enough to be on the computer much.
It's been so long, that everything looks so different. I like the new look.
I do have an issue with my lovebird though, he keep getting underneath my dishwasher. Why would a bird do such a thing, arn't suppose to be up high above things, not beneath things.
He chewed through one of the wires and frayed it. Lardlord fixed it and took care of it. She said somehow a mouse got in there and dmanaged it, not my fault. But I know otherwise.
I've been keeping in cooped up in his cage. He is very unhappy, but whenever he gets out, he goes straight for the dishwasher. Crazy bird.

Hey Red,
Good to see ya :)
I would first suggest teaching him that the floor is a NO NO, but until then I would block off the space under the dishwasher. I think I would suggest a towel so that you can get it tucked in all around and he can't find a way to wiggle in.
See ya round :)

Hi and welcome back!
Why would he go under the dishwasher? Because it's there and he can. :) Lovebirds like to explore and if allowed will get into lot's of things and places that aren't safe for them. I have three and the one place I do not allow them is the floor unless we are having play time in a confined area on the floor and I am right there with them. Their wings are clipped but if they should glide down to the floor from their cage or from my shoulder I immediately pick them up (with the step up command or with my new babies, chase them, :D) and put them up, off the floor. The floor is never a safe place for a little birdie so if you can't get him up, every single time he goes there, he's better off in his cage.

On the bottom of the dishwasher there are some whole that he sneakes through. I tried to block them by stuffing small towles in there, but the just pulls them out. He's way to stubborn.
I will work some more on the floor's a no no. He seems to be able to run faster than he can fly. That might be part of the problem. I have all sorts of ladders and swings and perches, for him, but he just ignores them.
Thanks for all the reples, much appreciated.

They DO run fast, don't they? :D Can you block it with a piece of wood? Something that he can't chew through. I just blocked a window with Plexiglas because my younger boys were chewing in that area and it worked like a charm. They seem to find every single spot that you don't want them to get to.....and that is exactly where they go! Kids! Go figure! :D

Hi red and welcome back!!!
We have a new look because we completely moved the board from EZboard to a different server. This is a much better location and we are very happy here!
How aobut rigging up some mesh wire that he can't get through? Under the dishwasher is no place for him to be. Is it possible that "he" is really a "she?"

yes its possible, never did a DNA test. Have gone to the pet store and everyone there as well as an avain yet have done the pelvic bone test and they all sya its a male, but that really doesn't mean anything.

Howdy Red :D . Your getting some great advice so I just wanted to say welcome back. Is this Sunny we're talking about or have you gotten another lovie?
Lovies love dark spaces you might try and give him a tissue box or something to play in that may distract him from the dishwasher. I have one pair of lovies who sleep and play in a towel that I drape over the top with some of the towel on the bottom for cusion.

Hi Red!
Sure is good to hear from you again. Can you post some updated pictures of Sunny? Would love to see them. Since you've been gone, I've gotten into more lovie trouble and bought a little Pied a few months ago. I think there are some pics somewhere in the back pages of the gallery. Anyway, good to hear from you! :D

Yep, its Sunny, my only lovie.
Sorry dont havea digital camera, so cant show any new pictures, look about the same, really not much has changed.
I have several Cozies, put in several places around my apartment, but he doesnt care for it. I've let him out a few times, but all he does is dart for the kitchen, so back in the cage he goes. He's not happy about it. Barking up a storm, but there really nothing I can do for him until he decides it not in his best interest to dart for the kitchen.

Hi....sorry to hear you've been under the weather.....and glad you are back among friends.....I am Paulette.....and new since June, I think....I'm from Missouri....I've missed all the new people since I've been trying to understand the lovebird genetics...which has been mind boggling for me....but I'm getting closer to some understanding....I have 6 lovies, 6 tiels, 6 budgies and 1 baby, and 4 zebra finches. Sunny sounds like quite a lovie character.....mine usually go high unless they fly down to the floor and then sometimes they get on the rungs under my chair or some little stools in my bird room....and they are ever so quiet when they don't want to be found. :x Which can be really frustrating sometimes....especially when you need to leave and you're in a hurry!.... Look forward to visiting with you again.
