I am a complete newby. I have not posted to a community board before so
please forgive my etiquette. (and spelling) I love learning from this community and have it as my home page. I am from Seattle and have a 6 year old Peach Faced Lovie. I sure have questions for you but will wait to see if I am getting through properly. Thank you for existing in this world.

Hi Mayou and welcome to the forum! You did get through...:D
You mentioned you have questions so I would like to suggest the "Your Attention Please" section of the forum when you have a chance to read through those threads....great information. Since you have a 6 year old lovie, I'm sure you'll already know much of the information and advice given but it's still a very good read. :)
I'm in Atlanta, have one older lovie that we adopted 2 years ago, a SWEET little normal peachie. I just got two more sweeties....a WF Violet and a WF Blue. They are DNA'd brothers and my older lovie is also a male. He was never DNA'd but he's around 9 - 10 years old and has never laid an egg so I'm assuming, :D.
This is the best forum to share, ask, and advise. Glad you found us and look forward to seeing photos of your little one. :)

Hi Mayou - I'm new too, I just joined a few days ago and already this board has helped me out tons - plus everyone here is so nice!! No "trolling" or criticism some other forums may have..(haha, if anyone here has reptiles and has been members of reptile forums - you'd know exactly what I'm referring to...but since most here probably don't, I'm probably just rambling on about nothing now..)
anyways, I had questions too, and actually had a lot of them answered before I even posted anything. I skimmed through a lot of the older threads, questions people have asked in the past, and learned a lot through the replies there.
I have a Senegal a Quaker, and a very recently adopted White Face Double Violet Female Lovebird named Cali.
What's your lovebird like to be called?

Mayou: Welcome to the board. I'm glad you found us and I can't wait to hear more about your lovie :).
When I first joined this board I had 6 lovies and a hatchling. Now I have 19 lovies and a Meyer's Parrot. I'd like to say I'm stopping at this number but I know better than that

Laura, :lol......is that a good advertisement for the forum or will it scare off a new member???? :D I had no idea that you only had six when you joined. Woman, you work fast! I feel downright empty with only three....maybe I need a "few" more! :)

Janie: We got Zimber six years ago so it's taken me that long to work up to 20 birds, and let's not forget that Won Ton and Babygirl (chronic layer) and their offspring are a big part of my flock. Plus we kept two of four of Cuddlebunny and Birdy Boots' babies. Can you imagine how big the flock would be if we kept all their babies

Nope! It can't happen. I've put a plug in that sweet little Babygirl

Hi Mayou and Karin:
Welcome to this great chat board! I am a relatively new member (since June-05) and this community board has helped me through some stressful times with my lovebird questions. I have learned so much from everyone's posting and am sure you will too.

Hi Mayou!....sorry I'm a little late on the welcome. I spent way too much time trying to figure out the lovebird genetics.....I have 6 lovies.....6 tiels....7 budgies....and 4 zebra finches. I was trying to understand the genetics because I have one pair on eggs, a White Faced Blue Violet and a Seagreen Creamino....I was told they would have lilac colored babies, but there are many different opinions on that subject.....some say Creamino will mask Violet and I read some info. that said no it can't it will only alter the degree of violet.....so I'm on pins and needles until these eggs hatch and the babies feather out. Tweety my hen, bit the crap out of me again!...I thought others were kidding when they said bloody fingers.....I am relatively new to lovebirds, I got my first pair in the middle of June....they are a lot of fun and very entertaining. I look forward to hearing more about your lovie.
