Hi,

My name is Lori and I have been a part of Lovebirds Plus for almost 3 years now. We are one big family/flock and we care very much about each other and each others fids. I wanted to introduce myself, and also tell you all about my fids, so here's all about my flock.

I have a lutino lovie, Bela. He is 2 1/2 years old. I have a creamino lovie, Lacey and she will be 3 years old July 1st. I also have a GCC (Green Cheek Conure) named Cappie, and he will be 1 year old May 24th. I also have 3 kitties, Fred, Orange and Ms. Kitty, and one chow/collie mix, Dolly. One son, Brad, and a hubby, Tim.

Well, that's my family at home, and everyone here is my extended family. I look forward to spending more time with all of you that have been around, and all of our new members also.

C-ya'll around the board :D

Hello everyone
A little about myself...I am single mom of two boys and now a peachface lovebird named Sonny.
My boys are 17 and 14 and our sonny is 3 months old and we have been blessed with him for 1 week. He's the baby of the house.
I am a little nervous starting a family again. I am going to need all the help I could get. Please have patience with me as I have many many questions already but I will leave those for another occasion. Today I just want to say hello, so "HELLO" ;)

Hi Sonnysmom! Glad you found this board. If you are new to pet birds like I was when I adopted my lovie, Oliver, 2 years ago, check out the "Your Attention Please" section on this forum. It's loaded with great informaton.

I also have a three month old....TWO, actually! Holy Moly, they are into everything and keep me entertained all the time! :D

Hlelo, my name is Lori too. I am having difficulties posting threads on this site. I just recently added a peachface lovebird into my family. We are not sure whether she is a she, but we named her alexandria until we know better. Anyway, we noticed a small lump below and just to the right of her beak. Do you think this is something we should be concerned about? Any help you give me would be appreciated.

Thanx, Lori

Hi Lori,

I did post a reply in your introduction. The lump is something I would let your avian vet take a look at. Alex needs a well bird check up anyway, and with anything abnormal, it's always best to let your vet take a look at it. If you don't have one yet, you can find a link in the Resource Library to find one in your area.

Please let us know what the vet says. I hope all is well.

Hi everyone, my name is jennica and I have 2 lovebirds. I just got the Fisher's lovebird for my boyfriend very recently. My baby is BG though, he's the peachface cute you see. Anyways, I hope your all doing good. Oh yeah and I was wondering if Fisher's are usually a little smaller than peachface. Anyone know?

Good Morning Everyone,

Not only am I a first time owner of a sweet little peachfaced love bird who's name is "peaches" i know...i'm sure that's original...lol but this is the first time i've ever been on a forum!

i received my pretty lovebird for my 50th birthday...one thing that was nice about turning 50. two friends of mine purchased her for me at a popular pet store. the salesperson told my friends that peaches was a female (and after all my reading i know we don't really know that yet) and that she was hand-fed and 5 months old.

well, when i went to pick her up i was told she was not hand-fed so after reading so much about how hand-fed lovies are so much easier to train and get along with i was a little nervous about taking her. i also noticed she's missing a toenail on her back left foot?? do they grow back?? must have happened in the pet store.

however, i must say, after three weeks she only bit me once (and drew blood)
but that was within the first couple of days i brought her into her new environment, but now she already does her "up-ups" on my finger and playing happily with her toys and bonding closer and closer with me everyday. unfortunately i do work 8 hours a day so i make sure to spend some time with her in the morning before i go to work and occassionally will zip in at lunch time to spend a few minutes with her then of course she gets lots of attention when i get home.

well, there's lots i'd love to ask and lots i want to read on this wonderful site i came upon....so i will get in touch again soon.

Hi Susan and welcome to our community!
We are very passionate about our lovies here so it sounds like you fit right in here!! :lol

Our experiences here are that a lovebird does not necessarily have to be hand fed to make a wonderful companion! Socialization is what earns trust and helps form strong bonds.

Looking forward to hearing more about Peaches! :)

Hi everyone,
My name is Kasey and I have had a cinnomon faced lovebird named Jasper. I jsut recently bought him and he is two or three months old. He is not tame at all but I am working hard to ge him there. I got a peachface lovebird named Molly about 5 years ago and had her trained very well, she loved being out of her cage around everyone, she wanted to be the centre of attention. Unfortunately last year she died, this is why I got a new bird but he seems harder to tame then Molly ever was.

hi all,

I'm the new owner of Hercules a 10 yr. old red suffused green pied peachface (did I say that right? boy it's a mouthful lol). I am new to lovies, having only ever owned budgies...

I also have Tiko, a 3 yr. old greywing budgie, who I got just after she was weaned, and 2 big dogs, Panic (9 yr old lab X) and Katie (8 yr old. whippet X).

I've really been enjoying reading everyone's posts... it's a great community here!

Hi Sarah and welcome to our community!
I would start with our Resource Library and then read through some of the forums, particularly Care and Behavior. Lovebirds make wonderful pets but understanding them is half the battle. Those of us who are owned by lovies wouldn't have it any other way!!! :)

Hi everyone,
My name is kim and I am new to lovebirds and have had mine now one week, a peachface named Pip. After having only tiels who are so calm and laid back, this little guy took us by surprise at how active he is and how loud he can be! Coming to a new home seems like just a big new adventure to him! He really wants to be out of his cage all the time and we give him lots of time out of his cage. He likes to explore and chew on everything and invade my tiels cage to eat their food, chew on their toys and take a bath in their water bowl! The tiels are not too fond of pip as of yet, but that don't bother Pip! He's just a little ball of fire and entertaining, I could just watch him for hours! He loves his reflection in the mirror and will sing to it very loudly! and dance around in a circle. He just goes, goes, goes, like the energizer bunny. Pip also likes dogs, I was told by his previous owner that he is fascinated with them, and he has already taken an interest in our dog ernie and lands on him at times. Don't worry, ernie is good with birds and would never hurt them! He's a black lab and gettin old and if it isn't food, then he pretty much doesn't care or bother with it. I am totally amazed since getting Pip at how such a tiny little bird can be so full of energy and personality, and how he just boldly goes where he wants to go! What a little monster bird, I always say! so cute though. Pip isn't the one who had to adjust to being here---we are the ones who have to adjust to Pip! lol

Hi, Kasey...Hey for what I understand if your newbie bird (Jasper) is two to three months,old..I'm afraid you won't have much luck in training it to be tamed at that age. Two months old maybe...but If he is three months old that will be really hard to train it, but you will have to work with it a lot....! Hang in there and don't give up... I believe it will work out in time and with plenty of patience. Good Luck  ...~

Hi,
I hope you'll approve of me even though I don't have a lovebird, because as much as I've looked I can't find an aviary near me. But I hope to get as much information as possible before I get a lovebird. Thanks!!

My name is Katie, I'm the mommy of 2 lovebirds. I have a 3 year old dutch blue named Grover, she's a girl, LOL. I've had her since she was about 2 months old and I recently added a normal green lovebird that I've named Mumford. My boyfriend has a 17 year old Hahns Macaw and 2 Caiques....so we are bird people.

I'm very excited to read, learn & share whatever I can on this board.

My name is Karin and in the past two weeks my lovebird family has expanded with the hatching of 4 new chicks. I have been reading the posts but have more questions regardng the nesting box - i.e. do I add fresh bedding? The chicks are doing very well and growing really fast. Is it okay to touch the chicks? I do not want to do anything to cause mom to abandon them.

thanks
K:)
