... of death maybe.
I was blowing on Cooper's neck (I think that I read that this will get her used to being touched  ??) when I guess she had enough. Ok so you're not supposed to react!? How is that possible with bird hanging off my lip :omg:
Also I think Cooper likes confetti or was just reminding me not to turn my back to her. As I'm putting the other food dish in her cage she nips the hand holding the dish with pellets. My fault to lean it on the cage, but now I have to vacuum tiny pellets from everywhere.
I'll never learn...

Oh my. :omg:
Eventually I was able to blow on Gracie's neck feathers, and I still do. But you always need to be alert to body language. If she starts turning around, for example, I know that she probably wants me to stop. Every bird is an individual.
It's almost impossible not to react to the major bites. You just don't want to give the bird a regular response that becomes a type of reward.
Hope your lip is doing better. :)

Birds like being blown on? If I've ever done it, it was to discourage one of my birds from biting me. If they like being blown on the backs of their necks, I'll have to give it a try. Hold on one sec, I happen to have plenty of birdies around me right now....
Okay no.... Squeaks does not like that. >o

I read on here, a couple of years ago, about blowing on them. Oliver likes it a lot (well, after he got over the initial shock!) and Big Boi and Shy think it's the greatest......unless I've eaten onions! :lol
Blu likes it. It has to be very gently just to lift off the feathers on the neck. And yeah... I watch for body language too! The goal is to stop just when she's starting to enjoy it and definitely before seh gets tired of it.
I feel bad that you got bit but I can't get rid of the picture in my head.... Cooper hanging from your lip and you debating wheater you should scream in pain or not!

I've tried blowing on Molly and he does NOT like it. He loves his head rubbed. If they get real noisy, I can blow gently and they get quiet. :)

Gonzo enjoys blowing on the back of his neck. He likes skritches too, but sometimes there are some ouchie pin feathers there, and blowing seems to be the thing he likes best. I let him decide what he likes at the time.

Far too many hormonal birds in my house for me to be blowing on anybodys neck. ;)
Our tame babies you can pretty much do anything to, but again, I've not tried blowing on my birdies. Guess I could try it on one of the non-nippers.
Lip bites hurt like heck. I have gotten one, from the queen of nasty, Weesy and never again have I gotten one simply because Weesy belongs nowhere near any ones face. You can't not react when you have a little snake hanging from your lip. My husband got a bite, all the way through the bottom lip (literally, you could have put a piercing through it) from the Senegal....that looked painful too.

Sorry, but this comment made me smile. Melly got me on the underside of my nose, right in the middle. Oh. My. Gosh. was that painful. It literally brought tears to my eyes. Yeah, sometimes they get you and you can't just sit there and pretend that you're not getting bitten. But at the same time, if you do like my husband does when he's bitten, which is to jump and yell, then the birds do it again just to see the show. :)

I hang 2 lip hanging birds today. I think they are sneaking in here at night and reading the posts.

Ok I get the hint (from the bird and all of you :p ) - blowing on lovebirds is out!
