Haven't posted on here in a while. How is everyone?
I have some sad news (for me anyway). You may remember my lovebirds had a clutch back in the summer. Well, we ended up keeping one of the babies and we have another breeding pair as well and also another single lovebird, plus some other pets. It is just getting to be too much in our condo.

So I am looking for a new home for Quicksilver and Goldmoon. They are really great birds, but I just need to downsize right now. I have some expensive medical bills and we may be moving in the spring and staying with some family. I can't imagine cramming us and all those pets into someone else's house. Silver and Gold are the only ones that it's logical to part with.

It kills me to do it, but if there is anyone in the Massachusetts/New England area who is interested please let me know asap. Now that I've made up my mind, I just want to find them a new home right away so that I won't be sad everytime I look at them. . .

Thanks.

Nevermind. I found a GREAT home for them. Whew. What a relief. Someone who takes in birds and keeps them forever and never resells them. Plus he lives only about an hour from me and I can visit them if I want. Yay!

Well, hopefully I'll be on here reading more. I'll still have four lovies and one quaker after rehoming Silver and Gold so . . . .

Take care everyone!

Hi Jessie.....I've been missing you on the board.....sorry you had to give up QuickSilver and Goldmon....hope you are feeling better soon.....sometimes in life we have to make those decisions and sort out our priorities......and sometimes we have to lean on family.....and that's ok.....isn't that what families are for.....and what better time to be with family than around the holidays.......you take care.....and don't forget to drop in and let us know how you and your pets are doing.

PS....We love the original Star Wars movies and just haven't kept up with the newer ones.....it disappoints us when they take something so good and try to remake it or add to it....we saw the first new one and then just stopped....it seemed like the newer movies that are supposed to be prior timeline to the original movies (everything is more advanced---it's just weird)....I finally saw the second one the other day.....now the mystery of the Sith is solved for me....now I'm going to have to find the 3rd one....because I hate not knowing the ending.....it's like starting a book and never finishing it.....it drives me crazy. But anyway....it made me think of you. So don't be a stranger. And Good Luck! :grouphug:

Hi Paulette,
Thanks for the supportive message. this is just so hard. They really are great birds; I just don't love them like I do my others. It's hard to say that because I am such an animal person. But I know that I don't feel the same way about them as I do my others because as long as they have a super home I'll be okay with parting with them. No matter what kind of home someone could give my little Button, I would never be able to part with her.

I actually renegged on the original home becuase someone warned me that the person collects birds. How scary! Glad I narrowly avoided that. So I posted them on our employee website here at my job and a guy from the same building as me (though I've never met him) is very excited to take them in! So that is great. I'm still nervous though. He said he'd send me updates so that's good.

Star Wars - a comforting topic. I don't want to start crying at work over Silver and Gold. :) Yes, the newer ones are actually prequels. I prefer the originals, but the new ones are pretty nifty too. More advanced, yes. Seems kind of silly. But that's George Lucas for ya - whatever makes money. You should definitely see "Revenge of the Sith". It was a very big adventure movie and it wraps up all the loose ends about Darth Vader.

So thanks for the supportive message. I've missed you guys too. I'll try to be online more often. I"m not completely out of the lovebird lifestyle yet. lol. Only parting with two of them and I hope no more EVER. And I have one more breeding pair too so I'm sure I'll always have lots of questions for the experts at this board.

Send some "new good home" mojo my way for Quicksilver and Goldmoon. I meet the guy to give them to him tomorrow after work. Thanks everyone! ;)

Yup, that is good news. I don't know why, but I have a good feeling about their new home ... it's odd, I don't get that kind of strong feeling often, especially about people I've never met or seen before, but there it is. If it's just wishful thinking, I hope it comes true. :)

Thanks for the encouragement Barb and Butterfly.

A good feeling, eh? I'll take it! :)

Yea, the guy sounds nice enough. He has some young daughters so I warned him twice about Goldmoon's biting but he just said it won't be the first time he's been bitten by a lovebird. He's kind of short with some of his answers, but I think it might just be because we are both at work. He does sound legitimately excited though so that's good.

I just want them to be happy and be with a family that loves them. I care about their well-being and I want them to be okay, but I don't love them like I love the rest of my pets. My fiancee was observant enough to point that out to me when we started talking about giving them up for adoption. So as long as they go to a great home deserving of them, I'll be very happy for Quicksilver and Goldmoon.
