Well I never did post this at the old site, thought maybe I should now that we are at the new site.
First of all Thanks to all involved in building this site. You all did a great Job!

I am Lori, I am from RI. I will be 40 yrs old this summer. I am married with 3 children, two daughters, ages 12 and 18, and one son age 15.

I have a very HUGE golden retriever, his name is Murphy Bear, he is a big MOOSH!! My husband has a Ball Python, I dont mess with that pet much...its kind of boring....just kind of sits around, eating rats and shedding.

I have 6 lovebirds (all since Feb 05) so I am pretty new to the care of lovebirds. about 18 yrs ago we had a parakeet name Clyde. That is really the only bird I have ever had before.

So far I enjoy having the lovebirds. They are very neat to watch. most of them dont like to be touched, but will tolerate my hands in the cage as long as it is to clean up for them, or feed/water them. Other than that "fagetaboutet!"

My Lutino, Dekota, doesn't like it when I go in to get her, but once she is out, will let us hold her and pet her and will eat treats for us, play on the tinker toys, and fall asleep in our hands. She has even preened my daughters hair. So far she doesn't bite. (she is starting to bow down and spread her wings for her mate now, so I expect that to change soon)

I find just reading the past and present boards, that I dont have as many questions as I originally did upon finding this site.

4 out of the 6 birds I have will eat a variety of veggies, along with their seed, and millet.

I will post updated pics of them as soon as I have time to take them and upload them into the puter.

Good luck to all of you with your lovebirds and other pets,
take care,
Lori

Hi Lori! Welcome (again). You were the one who shops at the pet store in Bellingham, right? Small world.
Anyway, can't wait to hear more about your lovebirds. See you around!

yep thats me....(pet store in bellingham), I dont go there often, I like the other two pet stores better. I think because they are smaller stores, the help take care of the pets better. the one in bellingham is petsmart, and I feel like that place is almost assembly line. if they have birds and they dont sell them in a couple of weeks, they ship them off to another of their stores...."rotate the stock" so to speak...I dont think I like that much.
small world huh? Your the first one on the boards that is close enough to drive to! LOL
take care,
Lori
P.S. You wouldn't happen to have a creamino for sale would you??? :D

Yes, I do hate seeing birds for sale in any kind of petsmart/petco store. They are really not equipped to deal with it. They should let the specialty stores handle such things. I can’t even look at the bird section when I go in to get stuff for my dog or cat. It makes me sad. To see kids standing there knocking on the glass enclosures of tiny little lovebirds or this poor ringneck that was there for the longest time.
But enough about sad stuff. . .
I don’t have ANY babies yet. But these parents I bought have produced creaminos before. I’m really hoping they will next time too. I love the look of them. And I’m totally within driving distance of you! I’ll keep you updated.

Lori,

I might have a creamino for sell if she doesn't stop chasing Molly away cause she thinks I belong to her . She doesn't want to play anymore it's territorial now .
