Baby Fischer Lovebirds (13 weeks) seeking funloving caring family for late night popcorn parties. Likes indoors, free flights around the living room and spacious cage. Enjoys singing, eating, biting, eating, playing, eating and biting.

Mummy has decided that its time for her babies to leave the nest.
Many tears will be shed when they leave, but 9 in a cage is a little too much. We are going to keep 2 of the babies, so have 5 going spare. 4 seemed to have paired up, and the runt (gammy) is all alone :(

Steve.

If there was a way to get him here I would love to have little Gammy. I have a soft spot for the little runts. He needs a friend and Kameko would be happy to have one. I wish i was closer. Why are there never any people looking for homes closer to me:roll:

I'm about 170 miles away but strangely enough I was born in Watford and lived there for the first half of my life. Now don't temp me anymore or else I might give in.

It's a sign Heather....you and those sweet little birds are meant for each other...Hahahhahahaaaaa!

Thank you all for your words.

Dont worry heather, we will keep looking for good homes for them all. I will put an ad in the parrot society pages, and the petshop in stanmore may be wanting a pair in a few weeks. Gammy especially. But if you do want one then ill meet you halfway.

Mandolin, i think Canada is a little far unfortunatly

When we were looking 6 weeks ago, we had 2 places lining up to take them (Heathrow bird center, and notcutts pet center in st.albans), but it seems that the bird trade over here is suffering due to all the media mis-information and public hysteria over birdflu. The fact your more likley to give your bird the birdflu than you are to get it from your bird seems to be lost in a blaze of media hype that were all going to die. Sorry rant over.

Well good luck finding homes. They sound like special little birds and i am sure there is someone out there looking for a little lovie to love. Now if i happen to win the lottery this weekend i will make a trip to London and be able to take them all home with me. Good luck to you and i hope it all works out soon :D

I will get some pics tonight. I have some of them when very very young at

The good news is that a local breader with a heated outdoor avairy has said he will take however many i have left. Heather, do you want me to keep Gammy for you? :)

Well we tried guys :)

My next question is what to do :-

Gammy had a poor toe. when young it was bitten hard and bled a bit. She had a nasty scab on it for a few days, but for the last month everything looks fine apart from a little scaring. While he is fully mobile and walks and sits on the foot, when she is resting she will always lift it up into her body.
We have done many inspections of the toe, it doesnt seem broken and she has a fair old grip. Is this something i should worry about?

We have 7 babies from 2 back to back batches. We are going to keep the first 2 babies from the first batch and get rid of the other five. It looks like they are going to an avairy to a man who keeps other lovebirds. 4 of the 5 have paired and leave little Gammy out. Will Gammy be ok going along with her brothers and sisters to a new avairy or do you think that sending her along as a loner will be a bit of a disaster?

Thanks

Steve

Steve,

Even if Gammy has a bit of a bum toe, she sounds as if she manuevers very well with it, so it should not inhibit her at all. Lacey broke a back toe, and it has healed very well, but she does not have full proper use of it. It doesn't slow her down one bit:lol

If you have any doubts if Gammy will be alright in an aviary situation, I would try to place her in a home if possible. She very well may adapt, but it may take longer since she has been left out of the loop so to speak. In any event, I hope all goes well.

Heather??? You gonna pass up the deal huh????? Oh well, maybe next time Steve;)

Heather!!!!!!!!!

I am shocked and proud of you! :lol There really does come the time when you just gotta say "no".....or "no thanks"! When I told my hubby I was getting two more and asked him what he thought I should name them, he said, "how 'bout "no" and "thanks".........I LOL!

Gammy`s nail fell off in the last few days. Shes no longer holding the claw up as much as she used to. We decided not to let her go yet so we can find a nice home just for her.
the other 4 are off today. One to a man who already has a pair - he is really excited and rushed out to buy a brand new large cage for them. The other pair is going to an indoor flight.

Its heart breaking, the poor things. The only time we can catch them easily is in the dark - ive had to do this a few times to get them back into the cage after flying. Last night we moved the 4 into the travel cage and you can tell they have no idea whats going on :(

I just want to double check that at 12 weeks they are fine to go. They have been eating on there own for weeks now (we have the mess on the floor to prove it!)
