I havnt been here in a good long time....alot has gone on since my last post.
I wont get into it all now....as it will just take too long.
In the past few months, I had two people who knew we had birds, come to me with a Timneh and a congo that they no longer could care for. I agreed to take them in, with the understanding that as soon as I could find them proper homes they would be moving on. I have re-homed the timneh with great success....he is one very very spoiled birdy, he was spoiled to begin with in the home he came from but the people who had him went through a nasty divorce and were taking turns keeping him and it was seriously confusing the poor guy. he needed stability and he is getting that now...with lots and lots of toys treats and love. I am very happy with the way things turned out for the timneh.
I am now looking for a very good home for the congo, her name is Charlie, and she talks up a storm when the mood hits her, She however was not as lucky as the timneh, she was very abused for the 18 yrs she lived in her home. she was in a cage that was about 18 inches by 18 inches ....her entired life,,,,she has been teased, bitten and thrown by the previous owners and has some serious trust issues. I would only let her go to someone with experience with Greys or larger. Someone who understands what it means to respect a bird and allow it to come to its own terms on the trust issue. Charlie does have an extremly colorful language.....she goes off the hook at times. the people who brought her to me lied to me about that part, they told me she didn't sware.....well you could imagine my complete surprise when she heard the kids argueing one day and went off with the words she has learned....my jaw hit the floor!!!
I have heard her speak english, french and portiagese (My spelling on that one will need your forgiveness) she says "goodnight Charlie" when she is ready for bed and you havn't covered her yet....to list all she can say could take a very long time.
If you are interested in giving a loving patient home to this sweet girl, please send me an email.
You should know that at this point charlie is a bit plucked on her belly and legs, with spring coming I think she is getting ready to make a little nest and put some eggs in it,,,,all the previous eggs that she has laid have been taken away almost immediatly and thrown in the trash,,,,the previous owners did not handle it well for they did not know that they should let her keep them untill she decided to give it up.....herein lies her biggest trust issue. The reason I am telling you all these things about her, I believe in being honest...it is in the best interest of Charlie bird, and the new owner whomever that should turn out to be.
I personally think it would be best for charlie to find a mate to share her eggs....shes been laying 3 to 4 clutches of 3 eggs each clutch for about 4 yrs now....If there is someone who breeds CAG's and would like to add a female to their flock that would be the ideal situation for her.
If anyone has any ideas about all I have written please feel free to post or email me with them.
Thank you all for your time and consideration of Charlie
