Milo is a very sweet and affectionate bird. For the most part, I can trust him near my face. Hubby and I are both able to hold him nose to beak, and talk to him in obnoxious baby talk, telling him how much we love him, and how we're gonna kiss him on his beakbeak. And believe me, he basks in it, holds his little beak up to my lip while I make little kissy noises.
Melody, on the other hand, stands inches away, watching with a curious look on her face. Hubby always tells her, "Melody, I love you too. I would love to give you kissies but you bite." And then I feel bad. I feel like I should give her the same exact type of love and affection that Milo gets, even though her personality is very different from Milo's. So last night I snuck a quick kiss on her beak. She was so shocked, she forgot to bite!
Today, I tried it again. And again, no bite -- on the first kissy, that is. Then I got brave. (Brave, stupid, you say to-may-to, I say to-mah-to.) I tried to kiss her beak agin. And of course she BIT ME!
Ugh! :x
We'll try again after my lip heals.

I think Miss Melly got over her shock pretty quick. Olivia is my biter and when I try to "kissy" her beak she backs away and flips under my hand hanging onto my finger. She's never bitten my lip - thank goodness - just my everything else on my body  Now with all my other birds I hold their beak lightly between my fingers and kissy, kissy them on their neck & chest. They are so use to me doing this that I've never been bitten by any of them. In fact, when I start coming near Piper's beak with my fingers, he runs right into them, closes his eyes and squeals. It's too funny :lol

Ditto doesn't even wait, he'll run right up to my face, put his beak against the tip of my nose and make kissey noises.

She must be Ditto's sister. Does she fall asleep in the palm of your hand grinding her beak too?

she falls asleep on my shoulder and arms grinding her little beak. her mate would have to come sit next to her although he's not totally tame. that's the good thing about a tame bird pairing with an untame one :lol
one of my youngest bird, red beanie, looks a bit like ditto:

Dave, Sammy falls asleep in my hand at night, up the sleeve of my bathroom. He pushes his head and beak into my fingers and gets a nice beak massage. :)

Well, the little Miss got me again.
She was trying very hard to climb down the neckline of my t-shirt. I didn't want her in there, so I tucked my chin down to prevent her from being able to get in my shirt. This worked for a little while, but she is quite the persistent little thing and kept trying ... and trying ... and trying. Eventually she became fed up with my chin getting in her way, so she BIT it. HARD. I'm pretty sure it's going to bruise. ~sigh~ Hens. What can you do?

Ditto prefers to start at the bottom of the shirt and climb up. Then it's down the sleeve.

I don't like birds down my shirt. Generally it's Gracie who wants to do it, and the thing that gets in her way is on my chest. Nope, I don't let her climb in my shirt, either.
I usually wear high-necked shirts around the birds, because I have moles and skin tags that look like Things to Eat. I guess lack of access is another reason to wear 'em.
Hope your bruising isn't too bad. Tell the people at work you got it skate boarding or mountain biking.

Melody did this once, to the veterinary technician, during a vet visit. Climbed right up and nested in his armpit. The look on his face was priceless!
Barb, I do not like Melody in my shirt for the SAME reason! Sometimes she attaches herself to the inside of my shirt, with just her head peeking out of the neckline, and that's fine. But if she's trying to burrow in my shirt, and Milo's ON my shirt, then Milo will invariably manage to step on her head or something. Then she goes into a biting frenzy, attacking the first thing she sees - me!

Hi Jennifer,
One thing I've learned the hard way is it's never a good thing to be in the way of two arguing lovies . Pidget and Piccolo fight a lot over Pidget's cozy hut since they both love it but in typical lovie fashion don't like to share it. One night Pidget decided to get a leg up over the competition by flying over to my shoulder when he saw me coming over to put the cozy hut inside the cage for the night. Well, Piccolo was not about to let this happen, so he also flew over and I ended up with two beak fencing lovies, one on my nose, the other hanging from my bangs. Besides the scratch marks from their sharp little nails, I ended being bitten on the nose and chin by an enraged Pidget. And you know what is really ironic? That they actually have two cozy huts, one each, so it's not like the one who doesn't get Pidget's hut is destined to sleep out in the cold or anything like that *sigh*. Anyway, I now take them both out of the room before putting the cozy huts in. Once bitten......

I'd have loved to have seen that vet tech with Melody in his shirt!
I let Peepo play inside my shirt. Many times I wear two shirts, so she climbs between them. When I don't, she tickles me!:lol She peaks out of my neckline, sleeves, between buttons, or climbs out the bottom! I've just always done this with her, so it's routine. If she gets nippy, I put her back in her cage.
The time I DON'T want to handle her, is with her food in my hands. I have to be very careful putting food in her cage - she gets overexcited about it. She has plenty of food all day, but the idea of that fresh bowl or crock coming in...

Olivia likes to crawl down the front of my shirt. I think she thinks she's found a nesting spot  . She gets bitey in my shirt - OUCH!!!
