HI, all! I was just wondering if anyone had any pictures of their big bird's cages. I would like to see how they have them set up. Any pics would be helpful. Thanks!

Sorry, I guess I was not very clear.. I would like to see some cages for BIG birds, ex:african grey, blue mackaw, etc. I need to see some examples of set up and sizes! Thanks again!

To be honest, I don't think there are many of us on this board with bigger parrots. I have a grey but his cage is not that big or glamorous. He spends most of his time out of it anyway.

Oh, does this question mean you've gotten or are thinking of getting a larger parrot?

for my eclectus i change his cage every week when i take it outside and hose it off. i have a couple of different "major" pieces that I rotate. His cage is 36"X30" and is a bit small for him. He'll probably get a new one sometime next year after my wedding (one set of big checks at a time...).

I have a straight wood piece that runs across the center of the cage from one side to the other. A very large rope perch that can be bent and run up and down, diagonally, whatever. It is 48" so there are a lot of different shapes I can make. I have a boing. I have a large cholla "Y" shaped perch. I have a very knobby grapevine perch. And last but not least, I have a dr. fosters and smith wacky perch (kind of a knobby piece that you attach using chain so it is always moving depending on how the bird gets on and off or moves around, etc.) One of these pieces forms the main perch in the cage during every change.

I have a bird bed (kind of a platform perch), 3 or 4 different swinging type perches, a sandy perch, a long plastic chain that can be strung as a perch (huge links so no toes can get caught). Dozens of different size and shape manzanita perches. At any given time 3 or 4 of these are in the cage, but they are always rotated weekly.

And then there are the toys. I have dozens and dozens of toys. He gets about 5 or 6 in his cage at a time and they are spread out everywhere so he has to use every perch to get to them. At least two foraging toys at all times, one chewing toy, one food toy, and one acrylic/noisy toy.

Those are the basics. I have lots of options so every week he gets a different cage. Since both my fiance and I work during the day, he spends the day in his cage and having a new "home" every week keeps him busy. Does he like some setups better than others? Oh yeah. He even gets mad when some of his favorites are swapped out. But that just keeps him interested in what he is getting next.

I do a similar thing for my lovebirds, although it is a little less intense and a bit less frequent. To be honest, they just want new popsicle stick toys every week. And lots of millet.
