Cassy,
So Red is what you though he was, a grumpy O'man:lol I hope you can find him a companion, but unless you want little ones, you might also look for another male. Maybe try the group that took your lovies. They might know of something?
Good luck:)

Cassey, I'd be careful getting a "mate" for Red. Senegals can be extremely aggressive toward their mates when hormonal. We will never get a mate for ours as he is so attached to my husband and I'm the object of his aggression and hatred. I've been told that Senegals do well in pairs when raised and living together from a young age, but that older birds, being introduced to each other can be potentially a big mess.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but you do not handle Red? There could be some real aggression shown towards not only another bird, but towards you especially if the new bird can be handled. Senegals are super smart, but also extremely intense and if they are angry/displeased, you know.
If you really want to get a companion for him, in my opinion, I would not house them together and make sure during supervised playtime that they are watched extra carefully. Just my :2cents:

oh i can handle red ok, he was a hand reared chick. ( why he cost so much.)
he does the dead parrot act in my hand. silly thing. But he can get nasty when i go to his water bowl to change his water, but not his feed bowls. Work that 1 out, but he is slowly learning not to be aggressive, he gets told off, and when he stays away from the water bowl he is told what a good boy he is, then gets a peanut as a reward. Then Promptly opens the shell up and throw the nuts out and eats the shell.!! ( wonder if he an irish senegal lol.)
He i know is errr umm feeling umm fruity as he is trying to hump hand and also displaying to the lovies. He still wont come fully out of his cage as yet Unlike before, other lovies went.
Lori why didnt i think of that doh. thanks. give them call and see what they say..
Off to bed now ta ta for now..
Cassy.

I don't know why I thought he wasn't handleable.
Our Senegal was hand fed and treated like royalty, but three years ago at 6 years old (when he was in his previous home) he became hormonal, plucked all his feathers and began attacking the women in the house so badly that they stopped handling him altogether. Every bird is different, but I just wanted to let you know they can become very aggressive towards humans and feathered friends alike.
