I have been reading a lot about bitting. I have a way to stop my Billy from bitting. He lives on me from the time I get home from work until bed time. He eats his dinner on my lap (usually corn) Sometimes he just feels like he has to bite me...he loves my left hand but hates my right...Anyway, if he bites me I tell him "no bite" and then I put him on the floor. He hates to be put down so it works everytime.

Although putting Billy on the floor seems to be a good solution to biting, it is really a bad idea. The floor is a very dangerous place for a lovie, they can get stepped on, getting into dangerous places, its just an overall bad idea. While Billy really hates it now, he may get used to it and try to be down there to play. You don't want this to happen. Although you may think you will be very careful, bad things can happen so fast with lovies. There are lots of other ways to discourage biting, some work better than others, but i would seriously reconsider putting Billy on the floor.

I agree with Mandy. I have a "no floor" rule in my house and they know it. The only one I have to watch is Olivia. Sometimes she will fly to the kitchen floor and try to go between the cabinets & the baseboard. There's a few small places not boarded and in an instant she could be behind them and I'd never get her out - VERY dangerous. Instead of the floor, try just putting him down next to you or on a counter top. It will probably have the same effect & a bit safer :)

Kameko gets a very guilty look on her face when she gets on the floor, she knows she isn't supposed to be there. My boyfriends method with Kameko when she bites which is hilarious to watch and is quite effective is he picks her up cupped in his hands and kiss attacks her. She plays right along and forgets about being grumpy and changes her mood completely. She isn't being rewarded for biting but is being completely distracted and usually won't bite again for the rest of the time out unless she is hungry. Just an idea if Billy is comfortable enough to do it.
I can usually tell when Mikey is gonna attempt a nip. He comes at me with a cracked open beak and growls. I blow a small puff of air at him and it keeps him at bay... like when I need to get his "mate" out for cleaning. ( His ball toy)
I think you can prevent some bites, small percentage anyway..., by having a chew toy in reach at all times. Mikey's chops are usually because someone he doesn't like is too close to me. ( Madalyn, my daughter... she knows about Mikey and his terrible temper lol)
Also, if the bird is perched on you and bites, if you shake him to make him fall, some birds will not trust you as a sturdy perch after a while. IMO
