thanks for the good wishes - just got back from the fireworks!!!! they were fantastic!!! :happy:

now hubby and i are off for a 4 day mini vacation to new york city, and will be spending july 4th at coney island watching the famous hot dog eating contest, and of course, the fireworks!!

We joined with some friends/neighbors tonight and bought a bunch of fireworks, set the kids up in their PJs with blankets on their lawn chairs, and gave them sparklers to start with. The hubbies got the REAL fireworks ready in the fields and once the sparklers were done, we enjoyed a 20 minute show of lights, kabooms and ooohs and ahhhhhhs.
Of course, my 16 yr old daughter opted at the last minute to bail out on her brother for a camp out in our yard in their tent>: She went instead with friends to see the city fireworks at the park in town. I remember doing that when I was a kid too...sighs.....

Yep, us Canadians DO stop partying long enough to celebrate "Canada Day" LOLOL *jealous??????*

I am usually camping around this time, later much singing, and bonfires on the beach....maybe I am getting too old for that (or it's too cold and wet this year).

Tonight I will just enjoy my birds singing Oh Canada, well, their own version!
