Thanks folks!
We had a nice outing in Canada yesterday, out and about in Ontario, though no further than Amherstberg on the Detroit River. We stopped in for an unplanned trip to an old Fort there, Fort Malden, which played critical roles from early pioneer times up to the War of 1812 and beyond. Then it became a "lunatic asylum," though it was advanced for the time. Then we got ice cream sundaes in Amherstberg, a reward for the history lesson.
It was really much too hot and humid to do anything for a long time outside. Today would have been a much better day, but you takes what you gets. :)
I started thinking yesterday, that I may want to start doing something more philanthropic on birthdays in coming years -- some kind of community service. They don't get as many volunteers in summer as they do around the winter holidays.
I also thought about my two favorite birthday presents of all time: my cat Neko and the apple tree in my backyard. Living presents are the best! :)
Thanks all for the kind thoughts and wishes. The birds tried to sing, bless their little beaks, but you know ... they couldn't carry a tune in a bucket!

Barb, that is a great idea! Thanks for passing it along. I know it's something my hubby would be interested in, too. :)
