Re: May have a chance to get 2 lovies....
I think that it depends upon the individual.
I lost Beetle in late August and then Cricket, my rabbit, in mid-September. In the meantime, I had planned a trip to Vegas in Oct and one to FL in November. I decided to take a break from animal responsibilities (avian or otherwise) for the time being back then... which I then extended through the holidays and now, however many months later, until after Memorial Day (going to Vegas again).
Don't get me wrong: I've come close MANY times. Between my trips last fall I was close to getting a 'tiel at one store and a lovie at another. Both birds seemed REALLY interested in me but there was something in my heart telling me to wait. So I listened... Now, a good friend of mine had to put her cat to sleep after it was diagnosed w/ terminal cancer (she had opted for some radical treatment options but even they couldn't prolong the cat's life). She had a pair of kittens home with her within days of putting her cat to sleep... and it's worked out well.
What I'm trying to say is EVERYONE is different. You're certainly not trying to replace Lucky. Lucky was as unique and precious as you are, and you certainly aren't replaceable, right? However, there is a void caused by his loss and if you think that you are able to open your home AND heart to a new bird (or pair of birds), it is certainly worth considering.
I wish you the best!
