Pixel and Dreki getting along... kinda.

Dreki's been home for 2 weeks now and is extremely comfortable in our home, he doesn't know fear or insecurity. He flies all over the place, takes exercise laps in the living room and is an excellent flier. He lands on places that Pixel has never stepped foot on in his 16 months with us. He is outgoing, loves his mama and eats everything offered to him. He steppes up but then flies to your head or shoulder. When you type on a keyboard he will try to get under your hands, I have no idea why, but it's cute! He is nippy as babies are and is exploring the world with his beak.
Pixel has been living with us for 16 months, he was 1 year old when we got him, his previous owner claimed to have sold him because of allergies. He will eat seeds, nutriberries and avicakes and nothing else despite my efforts. He hates hands, usually just stays away from them and we've found a way to make it work. I just wear long sleeves and everyone is happy. He has nippy periods where he will bite the hand in stead of running from it, he even makes a trip to the hand especially to bite it. He is overly hormonal and humps A LOT. His favourite things to hump are socks, if we are wearing socks there is no stopping him, his only goal is to get to the socks and he will charge at you and bite you if you try to stop him. He is very jumpy and does not like new things, he startles very easily. He is growing out a clip so he can fly but not very well, he doesn't seem to get quite the lift he requires to fly everywhere he wants and he clearly needs better maneuvering.

So, Dreki is a nippy baby, he wants to nip Pixel. I think it's all a game with him, he doesn't seem to be aggressive when he runs playfully after Pixel until Pixel flies away. Then Dreki either follows him or sees somehting else he is interested in. ADHD much? Pixel is very curious about Dreki and really wants to check him out but Dreki is so forward and fast and nippy that Pixel is kinda scared of him. So if Dreki gets too close Pixel flies away. If Dreki really wanted to get Pixel he easily could. We have a way to make it work. I'm just flabbergasted by what a good big bro Pixel is!!

1. All humans present must take of their socks.
2. Open first bird's cage, wait for him to climb out. He will either jump on your sleeve or climb to the top of his cage.
3. Open second bird's cage, be ready when he jumps at you and lands on your face. Be sure to close your eyes, those nails can really scratch out your cornea.
4. Be sure to close the second bird's cage. Otherwise first bird will go in there and hump everything in it.
4. Proceed to the sofa and have a seat.
5. Second bird will most likely jump on first bird and they will fly to second bird's cage. When there second bird takes off and flies to you and lands on your face again. Be prepared!
6. First bird will check out second bird's cage while second bird chews on your jewelry, fingers, lips, ears, hair, fingernails, eyebrows, eyelashes, clothes, zippers, birthmarks, pimples and even invisible marks on your face. Keep mouth closed at all times or you could end up with a bird in your mouth. DO NOT try to eat anything at this point, second bird will not tolerate it and you might end up with a dead bird after you've bitten his head off.
7. First bird flies to the sofa, second bird flies to accompany him. First bird is jumpy and runs away from second bird, second bird follows him playfully.
Repeat steps 5-7 until birds are hungry and tired and second birds becomes nippy and starts to fly wildly around without any obvious reason.
8. Offer first bird your forearm and second bird your finger. Be prepared as second birds jumps and lands on your face. Walk over to first bird's cage and place your forearm with the bird near the doorway, the first bird will happily climb into his cage and to his bowl of food.
9. Walk over to second bird's cage and open the door. Try to get the bird to step up onto you finger from your head, when that fails, grab him gently and pry him out of your hair and make him stand on your finger. Be ready when he jumps at you and lands on your face. Gently grab him again and place him on a perch in his cage. He will run up your hand, be ready when he jumps and lands on your face. Gently grab him again and put him on the bottom of his cage, quickly withdraw your hand and close the door with the other hand as you exit. Be careful not to close it on the second bird as he will be stationed right in the doorway as you close it.
10. Take a deep breath and try not to look him in the eyes and walk decidedly away.
