Default The O's have taken goofieness to a new level.

Otis has spent the last hour climbing upside down on the roof of his cage attacking all the toys hanging down. Opie has been following him around either hopping from perch to perch or climbing the sides of the cage but staying out of reach. And they've been making enough racket to wake the dead.

Otis is even hanging on to the bars on the top of the cage with his beak and using his feet to "run" across the top of the cage upside down. He loves to be upside down. I think he's half bat.

    That's so cute!
Max used to do that when I first got him. I called it the monkey bars.

Otis usually does it at night after the lights go out. He'll climb around like that for a few minutes before going to bed.

Oh, my! So wonderful to have a house filled with Bat Birds! They sound like a joyful bunch.

I wonder if My *O* is their long-lost brother, as Odie, too, is a celebrated acrobat!

Well, that's a possibility, or at least cousin. Otis came from Linda and was born in 2010 I believe. His neighbor DJ, was born at Linda's around Christmas 2015 and loves to hang upside down from the bottom of his happy hut and eat millet.

I suppose it is a possibility,

Odie hatched in 2008 at Linda's. He loves to play upside-down and is a master of flips and hops.

My breeding records say that Odie is not related to the Os, not even distantly. They come from 2 completely different bloodlines. However, bat-ism may have been learned here, as I have many that love to do it! Lovebird antics are nothing less than comically hysterical! I have one male named Toby who loves to sit on a specific perch and just hold on and do circle spins around the perch. He's teaching his mate, Flutter, to do it and it's more than comical to watch them both in action!

DJ's cage has hoops bolted to the food doors. When there's no dish in one of them he loves to do sommersaults through them by perching on them and falling foreward though the hoop and flapping his wings to get back upright! Ditto used to do that too. DJ has taken that to the next step and does it on his ladder as well.

I wonder if this is built into their genetic code???????

    I wouldn't be surprised if it's learned.

My odd couple, Fili and Auri (parrotlet hens), had their house moved next to Frey and Odie and they have picked up some of Odie's spider and bat-like behavior. I caught a glimpse of Fili swinging upside-down from her boing today.

Flutter is a most wonderful lovebird name!
