    Hmmmm,

It is fledging time, and there are lots of babies out there. Do you think they ever thought about putting the baby back in the nest????

I have a baby grackle in my back yard that came out of the nest too early also, and I put him up in the tree at night. He also tends to go under my storage barn, or at least that's where he came out from when I called him last night. The parents have not attacked me yet, but then again I feed them, and knowing that, maybe they trust me with their baby?????

It sounds like they were trying to get to the chick to return it to the nest, but nobody could get close enough to it. And then the birds started attacking anyone in the vicinity.
