Cage question...
Anyone know how long it takes baby to prefer perches to wire bottom of cage? I've been taking him back out of the cage at night so his feet can get a break from the wire, and I don't know if it's ok to put a towel in there overnight (possibility of loose threads). Do I just let him get used to the cage, or keep putting him back in aquarium at night? It's getting way too small for him

Re: Cage question...
Why don't you try a nest box on the floor? I think your baby still needs it for some time yet. He will be able to come and go as he pleases until he gets used to perching. You could use a cardboard box if you need to; use carefresh or shred paper for a soft nest. Also make sure there are some low perches for him.

You could also offer a Cozy or one of Shy's fantastic pavillions.

Re: Cage question...
You might try a variety of perches. When I first got Peter, the perch that came with the cage was smooth wood and he slipped off once or twice. I replaced them with comfy rope perches, which he loves. I keep a few and throw them in the clothes washer when they need a cleaning.
