    Default help on breed

These 2 lovies were rescued from a shelter. They are very scared but might turn around with alot of work. I dont think they were ever handled before. Im trying to fugure out what types of lovies they are. I think they are whiteface something....Does anyone have any ideas of there breed?? maybe whiteface violet???

Hi Elissa and kudos to your for taking these lovies!
Both are young so I won't be able to tell you specifically yet which mutations you have. Rio is between 3 - 3.5 months old, as the black splotch is gone, there's still some amber on his/her beak and the first moult has not begun. Rio could be either a Dutch Blue or a WF Blue. You won't know that for about another few weeks when the adult facial feathers begin to come in. The rump looks royal blue which could mean that this one is a single dark factor bird.

As for Lincoln, age is just about the same. However, Lincoln is a Pied Blue but I can't determine Dutch Blue or WF Blue. Again, you will know when the facial feathers start to change. Both look good so please keep us updated on their progress!

Elissa- good on you for giving them a new start!! : Since they are so young, I have no doubt you will win them over with time. I get a happy heart when I hear stories like this.

You've got a good eye for Peachie mutations, I think! Rio looks to me to be a Whitefaced Blue Violet, while Lincoln looks to be a Whitefaced Blue Pied (no Violet in his genetics, though). As you might have gathered from Linda, it is sometimes hard to tell the blues apart when they are so young, so I might be wrong on the Whitefaced Blue part, but I am fairly certain that they are indeed WFB.

Kudos for rescuing them; they are beautiful little guys (gals, guy and gal, whatever...)!

Those are some BEAUTIFUL lovebirds, Retro!

They are peach-faced lovebirds (species) to be sure.
